LMS Pins, Mugs & More:
Our Louisville-themed pins are great for your lapel or for the Collector you know, and a light-up keychain featuring a fleur de lis or Pegasus design will help you find your keys at night. Enjoy your morning coffee with a Louisville mug, or your evening cocktail with a fun shotglass or wine set. All of these make great gifts, too!
Logos featured in this section are:
Louisville Metro: Louisville was named after King Louis XVI of France, in gratitude for French help to the American colonies during the Revolutionary War. The fleur de lis, symbol of the French kings, became Louisville’s symbol as well. This ‘Metro’ logo was launched in 2003 when the City of Louisville merged with Jefferson County to form a new government and larger community.
Louisville Vintage Seal: This seal was used by the City of Louisville from 1949 until 2003, when it was replaced by a new seal representing the merged Louisville-Jefferson County Metro government. The award-winning vintage seal features 13 stars depicting the original American colonies at the time of Louisville’s founding in 1778, and the fleur de lis the city’s namesake, French King Louis XVI.
Pegasus: is a winged horse from Greek mythology. It’s a symbol of the Kentucky Derby Festival, a two-week whirlwind of 70 public events held in Louisville in early Spring as a prelude to the Kentucky Derby. Louisville International Airport has a large wire sculpture of Pegasus ‘flying’ in its rotunda.
Looavul, Luhvul: The Greater Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau developed this popular slogan after hearing too many visitors (and residents!) pronounce our city’s name in many different ways. No matter how you say ‘Louisville’, this unique slogan is sure to get a comment.
